Rwandan rider Muhabwimpundu died in fatal crash

Les Amis Sportifs cycling team has lost a young upcoming rider during her training session in the road Musanze-Kigali on Thursday 23rd November 2017.

The 21 year old female cyclist Esther Muhabwimpundu was riding with  She-Team Rwanda riders  and other riders from Ethiopia and Nigeria who are camping in Africa Rising Cycling Center in Musanze.

Speaking to Richard Mutabazi , the Director of the center said that Muhabwimpundu’s bicycle collided with a car in a horrible crash. She was descending Buranga mount in Gakenke District during the training session.

“ we are saddened by the big loss of our future bright rider Muhabwimpundu , who passed away on Thursday morning between 9 and 11 am . She did a fatal accident as she collided with a car.” He added.

Traffic police spokesperson told the media that late Muhabwampundu was a bit left behind other riders. Due to the speed of her bicycle as she was moving down from Buhanga hill to Gakenke , the riders lost control of her bicycle and  collided with the car which was heading to Musanze.

Late Muhabwimpundu was still in Secondary school S5. She was listed among She-Team Rwanda riders who will compete in African Championship scheduled in 2018 IN Rwanda.
